Based on April Stevens’ 1994 debut novel, “Angel, Angel” follow a broken family who must cope when Gordie Iris, (played by Anthony LaPaglia) leaves his wife, Augusta (played by Virginia Madsen), for another woman. Their disparate sons, Matthew (played by Zach Gilford) and Henry (played by Graham Rogers), have no idea what to do when their mother refuses to come out of her bedroom for days on end which turns into weeks. When carefree Bette (played by Amanda Crew) enters their lives, her outlook on the world revolutionizes the way each has been viewing this situation. Sam Trammell plays Jeff, an easy-going landscaper, who hires Henry as a day laborer and befriends his distraught mother.

Virginia Madsen & Rebecca De Mornay to face off in “Hatfields & McCoys” revamp!

Sideways star Virginia Madsen and Rebecca De Mornay are to battle it out as feuding family matriarchs in an updated version of Kevin Costner’s TV hit “Hatfields & McCoys”.

Kevin Costner faced off with Bill Paxton in last year’s award winning period drama, which chronicled the bitter blood feud between two post-American Civil War families – and now the saga has been brought up to date for a new TV series. Set in present-day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the two families will battle for power of the city in the new drama.

Rebecca De Mornay will play the head of the well-to-do Hatfields, while Virginia Madsen is down to play her rival Eloise McCoy. Nick Westrate and Sophia Bush will play younger members of the families. Charlize Theron is among the producers of the drama.

Virginia Madsen to co-star in NBC’s “Hatfields & McCoys”

Sideways alum Virginia Madsen has been tapped to co-star in NBC’s Hatfields & McCoys drama pilot. Set in present-day Pittsburgh, a startling death reignites the feud between these two legendary families. Unleashing decades of resentment, the blue-collar McCoys will put the Hatfields’ wealth and power at risk as they go to war for control of the city.

Virginia Madsen will play Eloise McCoy, a woman from a tough background flanked with insurmountable obstacles. She’s self-made and has raised her children to put family first. Despite her calm demeanor, she’s extremely vengeful and calculated, and will do anything for her family. After her husband is murdered, she manipulates Patrick McCoy into staying to take revenge on the Hatfields.

Eagle Eye’s John Glenn will pen the script and executive produce alongside Charlize Theron, A.J. Dix, Dawn Olstead and Beau Flynn. Smash’s Michael Mayer will direct the ABC Studios drama.

Virginia Madsen’s credits include arcs on Hell on Wheels, The Event and Monk. On the big screen, she earned a supporting actress Oscar nomination for her role in Sideways. Repped by UTA and Untitled, her credits also include The Number 23 and A Prairie Home Companion.
