•• Two cast members reprise their roles as their love stories will be tackled in “Elementary” Season 5. Cast member Betty Gilpin officially returns in “Elementary” Season 5. According to Ecumenical News, the 29-year-old American actress will reprise her role as Fiona Helbron. Gilpin’s character will reappear after the first few episodes of the show. She is described as a genius and introvert software engineer.
Virginia Madsen will reprise her role as Paige. Paige happens to be Captain Thomas Gregson’s (Aidan Quinn) lover. The 55-year-old American actress and producer will reappear in Episode 3. Virginia Madsen first appeared in Season 4 Episode 15, “Up to Heaven and Down to Hell”. It is the episode where it was revealed that Gregson and Paige are already dating for a year now.
“Elementary” Season 5 Episode 1 is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 10:00 p.m. first and exclusive on CBS Network.

•• A film shot in Calgary last year with breakout star Jacob Tremblay will make its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Burn Your Maps, which also stars Vera Farmiga, Marton Csokas, Virginia Madsen and Suraj Sharma, was shot in downtown Calgary and Kananaskis Country, which subbed in for Mongolia, last summer. Directed by Jordan Roberts and adapted from Robyn Joy Leff’s short story, it tells the story of a boy named Wes who comes to believe he is a Mongolian goat-herder. Tremblay, 9, plays Wes.
Burn Your Maps was announced as part of the TIFF lineup on Tuesday. Festival organizers announced new additions to the gala and special presentation slate, including Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner’s Wakefield, about a man who hides from his family in his garage attic after suffering a nervous breakdown. The festival runs Sept. 8 to 18.
•• Actress Virginia Madsen has been tapped for a major recurring role on Designated Survivor, ABC’s upcoming drama series starring Kiefer Sutherland from The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios.
Created by David Guggenheim, Designated Survivor centers on Tom Kirkman (Sutherland), a lower-level cabinet member who, as a “designated survivor”, unexpectedly becomes president after a devastating attack on Washington during the State of the Union. VirginiaMadsen will play Kimble Hookstraten, the “other” Designated Survivor during the State of the Union address — but for the rival political party. A sharply intelligent and politically astute conservative Congresswoman, she makes it clear that, in the aftermath of the Capitol attack, she supports President Kirkman’s (Sutherland) authority as the country’s new Commander in Chief, until her true agenda is revealed and she emerges as his chief political rival.
