•• YouTube just announced that Hollywood filmmakers Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia will be among the talent featured in the upcoming YouTube Brandcast.
WIGS, the new channel from Avnet (Black Swan, Fried Green Tomatoes, Risky Business) and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs, In Treatment, Mother and Child), will feature scripted shows and short films with female leads—basically the Oxygen Network online. The new channel features name actors Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Caitlin Gerard, Jennifer Garner, Alfred Molina, Julia Stiles, Sarah Paulson, and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Directors include Betty Thomas, Paul Brickman, Lesli Linka Glatter, Walter Salles, and Amy Lippman.
WIGS will also feature documentaries, behind-the-scenes videos, and cutting-edge unscripted content, all starring female leads. New content every single weekday, beginning May 14, 2012.

Fantastic news for all the VMad fans. A promotional onslaught is in effect for director Trent Cooper’s comedy Father of Inventionas a new trailer, poster, and a slew of new images from the film have gone online. Starring Kevin Spacey, Heather Graham, Craig Robinson, Virginia Madsen, Johnny Knoxville, John Stamos, and Camilla Belle, the film centers on a former infomercial guru (Spacey) who finds himself in prison after a design flaw in one of his inventions de-fingers many of his customers.

✿ Father of Invention is directed by American filmmaker Trent Cooper, of only Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector previously, but also a few shorts including Coaching the Minors. The script was written by Trent Cooper & producer Jonathan D. Krane. This film premiered at various film festival markets in 2010, and was picked up by Anchor Bay Films, but they’ve been holding onto it for a while.
