Cast and Creators of WIGS on The Daily (Interview)

•• Earlier this month, filmmakers Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia announced the launch of WIGS, a YouTube channel featuring original series, short films and documentaries that explore the lives of women. The first WIGS series, “Jan,” starring Caitlin Gerard, Virginia Madsen and Stephen Moyer, premieres today. The Daily caught up with Avnet, Garcia, Gerard, Madsen and Jennifer Beals (the star of the upcoming series “Lauren”) to get the scoop on what viewers can expect from this exciting new content.

•• WIGS are quality scripted dramas that are written, performed and directed by world class talents. We’re telling stories of women in 5-8 minute installments, chapters, short movies and little segments. With a plethora of of well known names flocking to the project including Virginia Madsen, Julia Stiles, Dakota Fanning, Allison Janney, America Ferrera to name a few, WIGS is a brilliant new Youtube channel dedicated to bringing the stories of women to the forefront of cultural consciousness.

Jan premieres May 14th. Watch how Jan (Caitlin Gerard) gets the first job of her dreams but the boss (Virginia Madsen) of her nightmares. What happens when your dream first job becomes a nightmare?

•• YouTube just announced that Hollywood filmmakers Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia will be among the talent featured in the upcoming YouTube Brandcast.

WIGS, the new channel from Avnet (Black Swan, Fried Green Tomatoes, Risky Business) and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert NobbsIn Treatment, Mother and Child), will feature scripted shows and short films with female leads—basically the Oxygen Network online. The new channel features name actors Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Caitlin Gerard, Jennifer Garner, Alfred Molina, Julia Stiles, Sarah Paulson, and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Directors include Betty Thomas, Paul Brickman, Lesli Linka Glatter, Walter Salles, and Amy Lippman.

WIGS will also feature documentaries, behind-the-scenes videos, and cutting-edge unscripted content, all starring female leads. New content every single weekday, beginning May 14, 2012.

Virginia has joined with Empire 8 Productions and Screen Siren to produce “Fighting Gravity”, a documentary about some athletes trying to get the International Olympic Committee to allow women ski jumpers to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
