Virginia Madsen at “Fairmont Banff Springs Sports Invitational” to benefit waterways!

•• Star gazing was the order of the evening last nite as scores of celebs checked into the Banff Springs Hotel for the Fairmont Banff Springs Sports Invitational hosted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and friends. The two-day, three-night event benefited Waterkeeper Alliance, the fastest growing environmental movement in the world.

For many, the event’s highlight was Saturday evening’s Awards and Gala Dinner, which raised an impressive $885,000 through live and silent auction items. A fave event was the Saturday evening performance by Grammy Award-winner Michael McDonald of Doobie Brothers fame who was joined on stage by fellow Grammy winner Kenny Loggins. Talk about rocking the house!

Celeb Watch Weekend for Celebrity Ski!

•• It was on hiatus in 2011, but this new year welcomed back the Celebrity Sports Invitational to Banff National Park. Virginia Madsen and other celebrities were at Sunshine Village in Baff, Alberta, Canada competing in a variety of activities to help raise money for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr’s Waterkeeper Alliance, an organization that is dedicated to protecting waterways.

In 2010, the event raised more than $1 million for the Waterkeeper Alliance, which is an environmental movement uniting Waterkeepers who patrol and protect rivers, bays, lakes and streams on six continents.

“Sideways” DVD Screencaptures

•• To start off the new year, I’m bringing you over 2,400 high quality screencaptures from “Sideways”, a 2004 must-see comedy-drama film that made Virginia Madsen an Academy Award and a Golden Globe nominee for her amazing performance as Maya Randall, a local woman who become romantically involved with Miles Raymond (Paul Giamatti). The film is written by Jim Taylor and Alexander Payne and directed by Payne, Virginia stars alongside Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church & Sandra Oh.

•• Two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment, embark on a week long road trip through California’s wine country, just as one is about to take a trip down the aisle.

Virginia Madsen attended the 18th Annual Race to Erase MS held at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, California on April 29th. Virginia wore a gorgeous black with white spots. She was also carrying a black bag. At the benefit,Virginia was pictured with actor Nick Holmes. The Race to Erase MS annual event is a celebrity spectacular and gala to raise funds for research to find the cause and ultimate cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Episode 1×11: President Martinez and his longtime Chief of Staff charge the intelligence community with decrypting Thomas’s satellite message, but more importantly determining to whom it was sent. While they are distracted, Thomas unveils a surprise attack, but he does not anticipate a heroic stand-off with Blake Sterling, who learns an important lesson about Sleepers from Maya.

Episode 1×12: Meanwhile, newly appointed Alaskan Senator Catherine Lewis threatens to divulge information about the Mt. Inostranka detention facility on an episode of “HARDBALL with Chris Matthews.” Elsewhere, Sean and Leila get a fresh lead on the whereabouts of Samantha, but it leads them to a dramatic turn in their lives. James Dempsey foresees that he and Sean will once again cross paths.

Warner Bros has sent over 7 clips from director Catherine Hardwicke’s thriller Red Riding Hood. Amanda Seyfried (Letters to Juliet) stars as Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between a brooding outsider (Shiloh Fernandez) and the wealthy man of her parents’ dreams (Max Irons). Unfortunately, one of them may be the wolf that terrorizes her village. (Such virility is a turn-on, but werewolves are notorious commitment-phobes.) Gary Oldman, Billy Burke, Virginia Madsen as Suzette, and Julie Christie also star. Don’t forget the movie opens March 11th.

For decades, the people of the village of Daggerhorn have maintained an uneasy truce with the werewolf, who prowls at every full moon, by offering the beast a monthly animal sacrifice to quench its appetite. But under a blood red moon, the wolf changes the stakes by taking the life of one of their own.

The victim is the older sister of Valerie (Seyfried), a beautiful, young woman, who has just found out that her parents (Burke and Madsen) have arranged for her to marry Henry (Irons), the scion of the town’s wealthiest family. But Valerie wants only Peter (Fernandez), the poor woodcutter she has loved all her life. Unwilling to be parted, the couple was planning to run away together, but, in a horrifying instant, the wolf changes everything.

Virginia Madsen at the Oscars!!

As past year, Virginia Madsen attended the Hollywood’s biggest night and she just showed up on the Oscars red carpet wearing a truly beautiful feathered “Romona Keveza” black and white dress. She opted for a curly updo, diamond chandelier earrings and a bright red lipstick. The gown is definitely a showstopper, the color is fresh, and the feathers add that extra something special.

Virginia Madsen, who was a 2004 Oscar nominee for Sideways for her role as Maya, said she chose her Romona Keveza gown for the 2011 Oscars because, “It really reminded me of the classic glamour of old Hollywood, and I always love the opportunity to dress up.” “There’s always somebody standing on the train.”

Here is the first trailer and poster of “Red Riding Hood”. From the director of Twilight, Catherine Hardwicke, comes a film surprisingly a lot like Twilight. This update on the Red Riding Hood tale stars Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Billy Burke, Shiloh Fernandez , Max Irons, Virginia Madsen, and Julie Christie.

Red Riding Hood hits theaters March 11th, 2011.

Synopsis: In “Red Riding Hood,” Seyfried plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents (Virginia Madsen as her mother) have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. On November 13th Virginia attended the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2nd Annual Governors Awards held at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, California.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-director Francis Ford Coppola and Honorary Awards to historian and preservationist Kevin Brownlow, director Jean-Luc Godard and actor Eli Wallach. The Thalberg Award, a bust of the motion picture executive, is given to “a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production.” The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual for “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”

NOH8 Campaign

On November 4th, 2008, Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at a grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizations are forming almost daily. The NO H8 Campaign is a photo project and silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8.

The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers and sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and “NO H8″ painted on one cheek in protest.

Virginia joined Ramones bandmates C.J. and Tommy Ramone and Johnny Ramone’s wife Linda at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where the guitarist is buried and a statue likeness overlooks the park.

A lot of celebrities joined fans for a tribute to the band, which featured an outdoor screening of Ramones concert movie It’s Alive and horror classic Night of The Living Dead. Johnny Ramone’s widow, Linda Ramone has been staging the annual tribute at the cemetery since her husband lost his battle with cancer in 2004.

On February 27, Virginia attended the “Wonder Con“, a comic book, science fiction and motion picture convention to promote the DVD release for Wonder Woman at Moscone Center South in San Francisco and so far I have added 24 photos from that event and stay tuned for more updates on Virginia!

Virginia was looking so gorgeous wearing a belted crimson dress by Kevan Hall and eye-catching gold acessories including drop earrings from Loree Rodkin, Rene Caovilla heels and a Katherine Baumann clutch. I’ve added about over 110 photos of the lovely Virginia from last night at the 81st Annual Academy Awards.
