•• Virginia Madsen among other talented actresses attended YouTube 2012 Upfronts Presentation at the Beacon Theatre in New York on May 2nd to promote the new youtube channel called WIGS, a new web series of short films and documentaries about women stories that was announced previously on the site.
Filmakers of these new series Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia together with actressess Sarah Jones, Julia Stiles, Jennifer Beals, Caitlin Gerard and Youtube content boss Robert Kyncl were with Virginia at the presentation. The first of many WIGS shorts will debut May 14. It’s dubbed Jan and stars Gerard, who “humiliates herself in front of her prickly boss (Madsen), while photographing a handsome movie star (Stephen Moyer).” Don’t forget to suscribe to WIGS channel, JAN is premiering on May 14th – http://www.youtube.com/wigs.
•• YouTube just announced that Hollywood filmmakers Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia will be among the talent featured in the upcoming YouTube Brandcast.
WIGS, the new channel from Avnet (Black Swan, Fried Green Tomatoes, Risky Business) and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs, In Treatment, Mother and Child), will feature scripted shows and short films with female leads—basically the Oxygen Network online. The new channel features name actors Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Caitlin Gerard, Jennifer Garner, Alfred Molina, Julia Stiles, Sarah Paulson, and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Directors include Betty Thomas, Paul Brickman, Lesli Linka Glatter, Walter Salles, and Amy Lippman.
WIGS will also feature documentaries, behind-the-scenes videos, and cutting-edge unscripted content, all starring female leads. New content every single weekday, beginning May 14, 2012.
Jan - written and directed by Jon Avnet, debuting May 14th. The cast includes: Caitlin Gerard, Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Kyle Gallner, Laura Spencer, Iddo Goldberg, and Jaime Murray.
•• Magnolia has debuted the official trailer for Rob Reiner’s latest film “The Magic of Belle Isle”, which stars Morgan Freeman as a famous novelist burderned by alcoholism who moves to a small rural town called Belle Isle in an attempt to reignite his passion for writing. The cast also includes Virginia Madsen as Mrs. O’Neil, Kenan Thompson, Madeline Carroll and Fred Willard, who all have an effect on the man. The movie will be distributed by Magnolia Pictures and be released on Video On Demand starting June 1st and will be available in theaters on July 6th. •• Hornet’s Nest is set to air Saturday March 31st in US at 8 pm (ET/PT) on TNT. Sherry Stringfield and Virginia Madsen Track a Ruthless Serial Killer in TNT Original Movie Adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s Hornet’s Nest.
- The chart-topping bestseller by America’s #1 crime novelist, Patricia Cornwell, comes to TNT with Sherry Stringfield and Virginia Madsen leading the cast. Robbie Amell, Michael Boatman and Michael Silver co-star in the first in this adaptation of the first novel in Cornwell’s series of mysteries featuring reporter Andy Brazil (Amell), Police Chief Judy Hammer (Madsen) and her top deputy, Virginia West (Stringfield). Boatman has been cast as Richard Panesa, and Silver will play Deputy Chief Adam Goode. Set in Charlotte, N.C., the story opens with everyone desperate to solve the latest crisis: a serial killer is specializing in out-of-town businessmen. Hammer and West make the murder investigation their top priority. But West is less than pleased when Hammer pairs her up with Brazil, a cub reporter assigned to cover the police department. Hornet’s Nest is being adapted by screenwriter Dee Johnson and directed by Millicent Shelton. Jim Head serves as executive producer, along with Cornwell.
